Retention
When we remove your braces, you will begin the retention stage of your treatment. Maintaining your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. You will be given a protocol for wearing your retainers depending on your specific needs.
GENERAL CARE FOR YOUR RETAINER:
Keep your retainers clean by brushing them with your toothbrush and cold water. Do not attempt to "sterilize" them in hot water or leave them in/on a hot surface. They may change shape and no longer fit. Always store your retainers in the case provided when not being worn. Never leave them lying around or wrapped in a tissue. They could get damaged, lost, or accidentally thrown away. Keep retainers away from hot water, hot car dashboards, pockets, the washing machine, and pets (they love to chew on them!). Always bring your retainers to your appointments.
